Position Summary

Ontario Health is seeking expressions of interest from Ontario physicians with significant expertise in imaging for the position of Provincial Head, Medical Imaging. This is a unique opportunity to provide strategic leadership to the evolution of Medical Imaging in Ontario. This opportunity is open to all qualified candidates.

Accountabilities

The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Provide visionary leadership for Ontario Health’s quality agenda as it relates to medical imaging, driving coordination and alignment of image-related strategies across Ontario Health as part of the provincial strategy for medical imaging
  • Advise on key Ontario Health and Ministry initiatives, providing strong clinical imaging-related leadership to inform and advance development and implementation of relevant system priorities
  • Act as a key liaison to connect and strengthen the provincial medical imaging community to advance quality, facilitating engagement and collaboration between medical imaging leaders and relevant enabling domains (i.e., digital technologies) within and outside of Ontario Health program areas
  • Identify, prioritize, advise on and respond to system-level medical imaging issues
  • Prioritize strategies and/or initiatives to address clinical, system and data gaps in medical imaging to improve equitable, coordinated, standardized care for all patients, including marginalized and Indigenous populations, special and complex patient groups, and paediatric patients.
  • Establish and maintain effective links with relevant clinical communities, government and other stakeholders at the provincial, regional and national levels (as relevant) on behalf of Ontario Health
  • Lead the development and support execution of strategies to engage imaging professionals in ongoing system-level quality improvement

Qualifications

  • Radiologist currently practicing in Ontario and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario; a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada
  • Significant clinical, research and teaching experience in imaging
  • Proven track record (10+ years) of clinical leadership at the hospital and/or university level
  • Recognized as an opinion leader within the imaging community
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical, administrative and system-wide issues with respect to imaging services
  • Demonstrated aptitude for systems thinking, an ability to analyze information and to make sound decisions
  • Expert knowledge of current best practices, healthcare literature, and evidence-based guidelines, as it pertains to medical imaging
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus
  • Strong professional presence and ability to present to large and small audiences in a concise, articulate and dynamic fashion
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-focused care, evidence-based medicine and public accountability
  • Enthusiasm for, and commitment to, quality improvement in health care at the system level
  • Demonstrated creativity through publication of research and/or implementation of innovative systems and ideas
