Our work supports an integrated approach to laboratory medicine across the health system that is patient-centred, innovative, sustainable and delivers the greatest value for people in Ontario.
To advance this approach, our Ontario Laboratory Medicine Program provides strategic and operational coordination and oversight for laboratory services across the province. We also develop and implement laboratory program initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
This work includes:
- improving specimen collection and equitable testing access
- leveraging expert advice for appropriate and coordinated laboratory testing
- fostering innovation and system responsiveness
- enabling digital integration across the testing continuum
- and working strategically with health system partners to support point-of-care testing
