
- Had 100% of new employees complete mandatory accessibility training within their first two weeks of employment
- Finalized a new multi-year accessibility plan for 2025 to 2029
- Embarked on a major, multi-year transformation of our website, which will meet the accessibility requirements laid out in the web transformation strategy
- Developed more than 130 accessible templates for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents
- Continued the expansion and improvement of digital accessibility resources on the intranet
- Implemented a lunch and learn series on making accessible documents, which was recorded and is posted on the intranet
- Contracted with a remediation vendor of record to support compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA)
- Implemented a formal exception request process including extensive documentation, a tracking mechanism and regular follow-up for documents that cannot reasonably be made accessible for posting on the website (defined as “not practicable” in AODA)
- Established a document accessibility working group to facilitate troubleshooting
- Implemented a standardized approach for document accessibility assessments and remediation to improve consistency in results and advice given across the organization
- Implemented more robust tracking of the compliance status of files within the website content management system to improve accountability for document accessibility
- Developed a strategy to accelerate AODA compliance across digital products and services
- Developed a design system and WCAG 2.0 Level AA conforming component library for product development teams
- Launched an internal online community to promote accessibility best practices, share information and promote a culture of accessibility
- Hosted an event open to all staff during Disability Employment Awareness Month (October) to educate Ontario Health team members on the needs and experiences of people living with disabilities in the workplace and across the province
