Welcoming New Provincial Head, Medical Imaging

Ontario Health is pleased to announce Julian Dobranowski as our organization’s first Provincial Head, Medical Imaging.

Dr. Dobranowski is a practicing radiologist and a strong champion for patient-centred care, multidisciplinary collaboration and ongoing quality improvement. He is the Chief of Diagnostic Imaging at Niagara Health System, a professor and chair in the Department of Radiology at McMaster University, an adjunct professor at Mohawk College, and Chair of the Juravinski Research Institute. He has also been Ontario Health’s (Cancer Care Ontario) Clinical Lead of Access to Care for MRI/CT since 2008 and Provincial Head for the Cancer Imaging Program since its inception in 2009.

His leadership has helped advance a culture of quality within medical imaging. He has chaired several diagnostic imaging working groups, as well as the CT/MRI Wait-time Strategy for the Ministry of Health. During the pandemic, he provided Ontario Health with pivotal guidance related to imaging backlog and recovery, as well as guidance to rapidly respond to critical supply disruption of iodinated contrast media.

In recognition of his multiple contributions and impact to the field, he was recognized by the Canadian Association of Radiologists with a Distinguished Career Award in 2021.

We’re thrilled to have Dr. Dobranowski become our first Provincial Head for Medical Imaging, leading the strategy to address current and future challenges.
